Diode Laser Treatment
The use of Diode Laser in dentistry has evolved over the years and is an effective way to manage gingival tissues during your orthodontic treatment. It is a minimally invasive and painless way to remove excessive gums for better aesthetics and function.
Uses of Diode Laser in Orthodontics
Facilitate bracket placement
Removal of excess gum tissue may be needed to expose more of the tooth’s surface to allow proper bracket placement. This is common in cases with significant tooth movement or during a forced tooth eruption.
Forced eruption of impacted teeth
When a tooth has not erupted properly, a diode laser can be used to remove gums covering the tooth to allow placement of a bracket (or a button) to the impacted tooth and facilitate assisted tooth eruption.
Improve aesthetics
During the removal of braces, you may notice gum overgrowth called a “gummy smile.” Laser gum recontouring is a procedure done to reshape the gum line, exposing more of your teeth to improve the aesthetics of your smile.
